Final Thoughts

If you watched the video above and read the past review of the 1Up Box then you know how I’m starting to feel about this subscription service. A question on Reddit asked: Which geek box is most worth it?(I did use search, but looking for a more recent set of opinions). In response I made the following point:

I’d be sure to check the S&H on the crates. For instance

  • 1Up Box is $12.92/mo + $6 S&H (https://1upbox.com/subscribe). You’re actually spending ~$19/mo for it.
  • Loot Crate is $13.95/mo + $6 S&H (https://www.lootcrate.com/join).
  • NerdBlock Classic is $19.99/mo + S&H (https://www.nerdblock.com/subscribe/select_period)<
  • /ul>

For all intents and purposes, for a month-to-month purchase you’re paying almost the same amount for each box.
This sub has a number of unboxings for the boxes you mentioned. I’ve found 1Up Box to contain some ‘original content’ (1Up branded stickers, toys, trinkets) that may not be up your alley. Your 4 year old probably won’t care one way the other.

The original content almost cheapens the box. Granted, this is merely perception. I’ve found that as I’ve grown older, though, That I pay very close attention to what I buy because of the perceived value.
